How to Apply Dip Powder Nails?
How you start by preparing the nails defines how long the manicure might last for. The more time and care you take here, the longer lasting the dip powder nails will look fantastic for. With this in mind, here is a guide on how to use nail powder and apply dip powder nails.
What You Need to Apply Nail Powder to Your Nails
- Coloured Dip Powder
- One Base layer
- One Activator
- One Upper Coat
- Manicure Buffer
- Clean File
Prepare Your Nails
Wash and disinfect your nails before you begin. The last thing you want is any infections occurring after the dip powder nail application has been completed. Once you do this, give your nails a trim. Drag your cuticle towards the skin and cut any excess skin. Following this, rub your nails to roughen the top layer of your nail, which tends to increase adherence. Remove all prior manicures before filing the portion you want to cover. Before proceeding to the next step, wipe the nail to ensure any dust or dirt is removed.
Use Your Dip Powder
- Start the process by applying the bonder, followed by the base color.
- Wait for a while to ensure these layers are dry before dipping each nail one by one into the nail powder at a 45 degree angle.
- Using a washcloth or fine brush, remove any excess powder that has not attached to each of your nails. This prevents any lumps or bumps from ruining the appearance of your nails.
- Apply the layer mask to your entire nail, and then soak it into the powder.
- Apply the protective layer and coat your nail.
- Keep wiping the nail with an alcohol-based toner cloth.
- And that’s it! Simple!
Note
If your previous manicure had been a bit darker than the one you have now, you could perhaps rub out the tint and renew with a different colour. Also, when you finish your dip nail application, take the time to moisturise your cuticles with oil, and rub down your hand to increase blood flow. This will help with keeping your nails looking nice and healthy.
